We'll take the Pan-American Highway South to begin our ascent of the majestic Iztaru volcano. The winding road passes through fertile lands cultivated with all kinds of vegetables, offering breathtaking panoramic views. At the summit, we'll be able to see the main crater, and on a clear day, both the Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea are visible.

On our descent to the city of Cartago, we'll stop at the Basilica of Our Lady of the Angels, a pilgrimage site for many faithful. Our next stop will be the Lankester Gardens, a University of Costa Rica center dedicated to the research and protection of over 800 species of orchids and other plants. We'll then continue to the stunning Orosi Valley. There, we'll visit one of the few remaining colonial churches, followed by a delicious lunch at a local restaurant.

Just twenty minutes outside of San José, crossing the continental divide and entering Braulio Carrillo National Park, after an hour and a half drive through the park, the bus will arrive at a 1,000-acre private reserve of virgin forest.

A shuttle will be provided from the parking area to the visitor center. During the transfer, an introduction to the forest will be given as visitors pass by a small river and numerous trees with various bird nests. At the visitor center, a short presentation will be given about the canopy tour and the construction of the cable car. From this point, visitors will be divided into small groups for an optional 45- to 90-minute nature walk accompanied by a naturalist guide.

Then we will board the cable car, which consists of an open-sided cabin pulled by a cable and can carry five passengers and a guide. The cable car ride lasts approximately one hour and fifteen minutes. Further down, at the start of the journey, the cable car will whisk us swiftly over hills; in and out beneath the canopy, a world of soft light unfolds among the dripping branches dotted with mosses, ferns, and orchids. Vines and lianas cascade over the branches and crisscross the forest floor like a highway for small creatures. The ride will make several stops to pick up passengers at various stations.

The return leg of the journey reveals the most spectacular part of the trip as the car glides, in a breathtaking ride, through and above the tree canopy.

Located just 91 kilometers northwest of San José, Arenal Volcano is one of the most imposing volcanoes in Costa Rica. An eruption in 1968 destroyed the small town of Baldi Hot Springs. Currently, eruptive activity is minimal.

In the evening, enjoy Baldi Hot Springs and relax in its warm waters while gazing at the incredible starry sky above the volcano. After a spectacular dinner, you will be transported to your hotel in Arenal.
