Just after Braulio Carrillo National Park, we’ll stop for a typical Costa Rican breakfast: juice, coffee, eggs, and the popular “Gallo Pinto.”
After breakfast, we’ll pass through banana plantations, where the guide will explain the process of growing and exporting this fruit.
After the land portion, we’ll embark on the most exciting part of this tour: the boat trip to Tortuguero National Park.
There, we’ll learn about nature and our tropical rainforest, which covers approximately 29,000 hectares.
Tortuguero is one of the most important nesting sites for the green sea turtle, while its forests and canals are home to many endangered mammals, such as sloths, monkeys, coatis, agoutis, and manatees. There are also abundant birds, including toucans, trogons, egrets, herons, and anhingas, as well as crocodiles, turtles, and colorful butterflies, including the blue morpho.
Around midday, we’ll enjoy a delicious typical buffet lunch to satisfy even the hungriest appetites.
After lunch, we’ll take a stroll through the town of Tortuguero, where we’ll have the opportunity to learn about the town’s history and its inhabitants.
On the way back, we’ll take the bus back to San José.
