Arenal Volcano ranks second on the list of Costa Rica’s 7 natural wonders.
If you see the geometrically perfect cone of Arenal Volcano while driving along the highway, you’ve arrived in La Fortuna de San Carlos. This small, picturesque town has become world-renowned for its stunning natural beauty and is known as an ideal destination for adventure, birdwatching, or simply relaxing.
This is an active volcano, but it last erupted in 2010. The area has two main economic activities: cattle ranching and tourism, which is the primary source of employment and economic stability for its residents.
Why enjoy the area, especially the hot springs? These springs originate from underground activity, are odorless, crystal clear, and sulfur-free. The waters are regenerative and surrounded by lush tropical vegetation. They create a relaxing atmosphere for both body and mind that you simply must experience while in Costa Rica.
To learn more about the Arenal area, we have two tour options from San José, which can be combined with other attractions along the way.
