Poás Volcano, Doka, Greece and Sarchí

We’ll take the Pan-American Highway towards the city of Alajuela. Along the way, we’ll see the Juan Santamaría Monument and the famous Mango Park. On the ascent to the volcano, we’ll stop for a brief explanation about our golden bean, coffee. We’ll also have the opportunity to take a picture of the Central Valley and the coffee plantation, and then continue our tour through fields of ferns, flowers, and strawberries.

Description:

At the volcano, we will be at an approximate altitude of 2,708 meters (8,000 feet) above sea level, where we will hike through the lush cloud forest to observe the impressive main crater, formed from different layers of volcanic material, and to see sulfur fumaroles.

After descending from the volcano, we will take time to visit and have lunch at Hacienda Doka, a coffee farm where we will have the privilege of learning about all the different steps involved in producing the best coffee in Costa Rica.

Next, we will visit Grecia, a beautiful city considered one of the cleanest in Latin America, founded in 1838. There, we will see the only metal temple in Central America, a national monument brought from Europe to the country at the end of the 19th century, which fills its inhabitants with pride. We will also visit the Central Market, a quintessential example of Costa Rican life.

Afterward, we will continue to the town of Sarchí, known as the cradle of Costa Rican handicrafts due to the abundance of workshops working with fine woods. We will also take the opportunity to visit the oxcart factory, where we can observe artisans creating their finest designs and crafting the best handicrafts.

We will visit the central park, where we will see the largest traditional oxcart in the world, which holds a place in the Guinness Book of World Records.

It is worth noting that during the visit to the oxcart factory, we will have the opportunity to purchase souvenirs and other handicrafts.
