A tour to test several of our senses, primarily taste, sight, and smell. Passing through the entrance to the province of Cartago, Tejar del Guarco, the first settlement in the country, we can observe the Coope Santos Wind Farm Project, different valleys that comprise the Talamanca Mountain Range, where on a sunny day both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans can be seen, before arriving at a rural area with great warmth and hospitality, rich in highland fruits such as blackberries and apples, some of the best coffee in the world, rivers, streams, and much more…
We will visit the first and only commercial winery in Costa Rica and Central America; as well as the first and only liqueur produced from the golden berry (uchuva). Located in Copey de Dota, at an altitude of 2,300 meters above sea level, with a temperate climate and high solar radiation, it’s a perfect combination for creating incredible flavors. The owners of this project have extensive experience in the beverage and wine industry.
In addition to Costa Rica, they own vineyards in Sonoma, California, and the Negev Desert in Israel, all categorized as “Extreme Wines.”
The golden berry, from which Golden Rush liqueur is made, is considered one of the world’s healthiest superfruits and boasts a distinctive and delicious flavor.
You can visit the plantation (taste the fruit), learn about the liqueur-making process, and sample it in two different presentations. Copey Wine: Traditionally, grapes grow at latitudes between 30 and 50 degrees in the Northern and Southern Hemispheres, while Costa Rica is located in a tropical zone between 8 and 11 degrees north latitude.
For this reason, and others, producing world-class wine has been quite a challenge. You will have the opportunity to tour one of the vineyards, learn about the white and red winemaking process, and taste wines from Costa Rica, Israel, and California.
The tour continues with a delicious lunch and concludes with a visit to a coffee shop to savor a rich, premium coffee from the region, recognized as one of the best in the world.
Estimated return time to San José: 6:00 p.m.
