The impressive Arenal Volcano is a natural wonder located in La Fortuna de San Carlos, Alajuela, offering thousands of tourists the opportunity to appreciate the plumes of white smoke, ash, and fumarolic activity emanating from the conical colossus. It's important to note that the volcano had remained dormant for at least 450 years until July 29, 1968, when it experienced a major eruption, initiating a new period of pyroclastic activity. This activity has decreased considerably in recent years.

On the way to Arenal Volcano, we will stop in the famous town of Sarchí, known as the cradle of Costa Rican artisans, where you will have the best opportunity to purchase souvenirs such as wood carvings, clothing, and other mementos. In Sarchí, you're likely to see an oxcart that holds the title of the world's largest. It's constructed of cedar wood and decorated with striking colors, including a vibrant orange. The design is typical and intricate, featuring two levels and taking 70 days to complete. It also holds an honorable mention in the Guinness World Records.

The journey continues, passing through forested areas and plantations of various agricultural products, including coffee and pineapple, as well as ornamental plants and cattle ranches. You'll experience the diverse microclimates found throughout the country, until you reach the charming town of La Fortuna. There, you'll stop for lunch at a cozy restaurant with a spectacular view of Arenal Volcano.

After lunch, you'll visit a viewpoint near the base of the volcano for a closer look at the volcano and the Arenal Lagoon.

Eventually, the tourist will enjoy and relax in one of the best hot springs in the country, where they can experience the rejuvenating effects of the waters, which range in temperature from 33 to 66 degrees Celsius (93-152 degrees Fahrenheit). A wide range of options are available to suit individual needs, including massages (optional) and other special treatments, which must be booked in advance to ensure availability.

The Baldí Hot Springs combine the four elements of nature: the heat of the volcano, the waters flowing from the hot springs, the pure air of the rainforest, and the fertile soil of the La Fortuna de San Carlos region.

And for a perfect ending, we will enjoy a wonderful and delicious buffet dinner at Termales Baldí.
