This tour showcases Costa Rican culture and history through visits to museums and historical sites in San José.
On this tour, we’ll visit sites of historical interest such as the lobby of the National Theater, a national monument built by Costa Rican hands in 1897, also known as “The Jewel of San José,” and the Costa Rican Gold Museum (a site of great archaeological interest). We’ll also make several stops at different points of importance in the city, including the University of Costa Rica, the old train station, the National Liquor Factory, the Supreme Electoral Tribunal, the Legislative Assembly, the Metal Building, the Central Market, and several parks. In short, this tour offers an introduction to our capital city, as well as information on relevant topics such as economics, culture, politics, religion, and current events.
We will also visit a beautiful artisan shop, where you can find lovely souvenirs to take home.
During this trip, we will visit the lobby of the National Theater, also known as “The Jewel of San José,” a masterpiece of art and architecture built by Costa Ricans and completed in 1897.
Then we will visit the Gold Museum (an archaeological site), followed by the Central Market, a place brimming with Costa Rican cultural heritage and traditions, where you can browse and purchase some local crafts.
We will also visit the Metropolitan Cathedral. As we travel through the city, we will point out several major and historically significant buildings, such as the University of Costa Rica, the Old Train Station, the National Liquor Factory, the Supreme Electoral Tribunal, the Legislative Assembly (equivalent to Congress), the Metal Building, some parks, and various other points of interest. This will be an introduction to our capital city and information about our economy, culture, politics, religion, and general current events.
We will also visit an art gallery where you can purchase souvenirs to take home.
